Efficacy and function of emodin

Emodin is a naturally occurring compound with a variety of biological activities and pharmacological effects. 

The main functions and effects of emodin are as follows:

1. Antibacterial effect:

Emodin has an inhibitory effect on a variety of bacteria such as staphylococcus, streptococcus and diphtheria bacillus. It also inhibits the oxidation and dehydrogenation of respiration and intermediates of amino acid, sugar and protein metabolism, thus inhibiting bacterial growth.
